Summary:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Preschool Director will be responsible for recruiting and training preschool teachers, all aspects of the preschool curriculum, and recruitment of children.
The Preschool Director will make decisions related to the specific activities, personnel, and fiscal management of the preschool payments and budget.
The Preschool Director will be responsible for maintaining general cleanliness of the YMCA Child Care Center and monitoring the upkeep of the facility.

Essential Functions:
Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the Y Preschool department Responsible for all recruiting, hiring, evaluating, developing, supervising, and terminating of all Preschool program staff and volunteers Responsible for developing and overseeing the departmental annual budget and any required grant reporting, working closely with Business Office Supervise all child assessment, curriculum, and development as it relates to the Y Preschool program and implement an approved and current age-appropriate curriculum for the Y Preschool program Responsible for the adherence to all State Licensing and Sanitation Guidelines as they relate to the Y Preschool program, facility, and playground areas Responsible for maintaining and procuring necessary childcare equipment, furniture, and facilities Provide an atmosphere that promotes the Y's character traits and advances the mission and cause of the YMCA Responsible for overall communications within and between staff, State Licensing authority, parents and children of the Y Preschool program, and the broader Y community Responsible for maintaining positive, collaborative relationships with Y Preschool personnel, Y leadership, State Licensing contact, Sanitation, community, and parent groups Adherent to site standards for federal food programs Remain current with YMCA childcare and child abuse prevention best practices Actively participate in all staff functions, special events, and community events as requested or assigned Research and evaluate community needs to identify opportunities for program growth and subsequent implementation of needed program enhancements LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:
The Director must have the following:
A bachelor's degree, with at least 12 semester hours in child development, child psychology, early childhood education, or directly related field; and One year full-time verifiable childcare or early childhood work experience and a North Carolina Early Childhood Credential (NCECC).
CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date Attend screening and/or selection training that includes techniques for screening out potential offenders within 30 days of hire Pass a DMV background check Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of tools such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
