JCI is seeking a passionate, professional, team oriented individual to join our Youth Transition Services team as a Transition Specialist! Our team of Transition Specialists provide guidance, support, and career development opportunities to students with disabilities to ensure a successful transition into adulthood.
Individuals must be driven by a desire to improve outcomes for youths and young adults with barriers to reaching educational, employment and personal goals.
PRIMARY DUTIES OF POSITION JCI provides a variety of services to ensure that students with disabilities make a successful transition to adulthood.
These services help students with disabilities train for employment, continue their education, or secure employment upon transitioning out of high school.
These Pre Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) include services, activities and guidance in the following categories:
Workplace Readiness Training, Post Secondary Counseling, Work Based Learning, Career Exploration and Self-advocacy.
Individuals in this position are expected to provide quality services as assigned to eligible participants.
This floater position will vary depending on the need in Wayne, Johnston & Sampson Counties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide Pre-ETS Services as assigned.
Assigned services may include:
Career Exploration group and one on one instruction and activities, work readiness and self advocacy group and one on one instruction, work based learning (internship) monitoring and coaching.
Follows JCI guidelines for quality control and responsible spending Collect, evaluate and report student performance.
Become knowledgeable of program performance expectations and current trends in youth and workforce development.
Maintain documentation as required.
SKILLS ABILITIES AND GENERAL KNOWLEDGE Ability to maintain accurate and timely records.
Ability to communicate effectively in positive and negative situations.
Ability to work independently with general supervision.
Ability to relate to program consumers, participating agencies and community partners.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form.
